Description
John Cooper-Smith was born in 1949 and developed a passion for railways from the age of 4, taking his first railway photograph on 18 August 1962, over 60 years ago. Cooper-Smithメs first camera was an Agfa Isola 12-on-120 camera, soon followed by a similar Agifold which was used until 1965 when a Pentax S1a was acquired. Moving to colour from black and white in 1971, subsequent cameras improved in specification, and Cooper-Smith began to use medium format in 1976 (Mamiya 645) followed by Pentax 6x7 from 1983. In 2009, Cooper-Smith moved to digital with a Canon 5Dmk2, current camera being a Nikon D850. Still as passionate about railways as ever, Cooper-Smith captured incredible moments of the Flying Scotsman as she travelled through the UK in a series of runs by the National Railway Museum.
