Description
A passenger train, hauled by a coronation class 4-6-2 locomotive number 6223 "Princess Alice" at Shap summit, by Eric Treacy, 1944. Treacy loved taking holidays in the Lake District and Shap was one of his favourite locations to photograph locomotives, with the Howgill fells in the background. The line, which connects Euston and Glasgow, climbs up to over 300 metres at Shap.
