Description
A three quarter length portrait showing Lord Cowdray (1856-1927). Lord Cowdray was the owner of S Pearson & Son Ltd, and by 1900 was employing 20,000 men building railways, docks, harbours, waterworks and drainage systems in Britain, Ireland, Mexico and China. The company was also responsible for several large projects in England including Dover Harbour and the Blackwell Tunnel. This photograph is from a series documenting the company's civil engineering work in Mexico.
