Description
Plate taken from the 'Illustrated London News' showing Queen Victoria's (1819-1901) departure from the Great Northern Railway terminus. The only child of George III's fourth son, Edward, Duke of Kent, Victoria became Queen of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Ireland and Empres of India, in 1837 when her uncle William IV died. Victoria married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha in 1840 and together they had four sons and seven daughters.
