Description
These long obstetrical forceps made of steel and ebony follow the design of Sir James Young Simpson (1811-1870). They are longer and heavier than his short type forceps and were used to deliver babies from higher up the birth canal. Both Simpson's long and short forceps were adapted in many later designs. Manufactured by Mayer and Melzer of London.
