Edward Thomas', steam locomotive clas 0-4-2ST at Abergynolwyn, Wales, 1963. This locomotive no 4 ran on the Talyllyn Railway. It was built by Kerr Stuart for the Corris Railway in 1921, but was purchased by the Talyllyn Railway in 1951 after the closure of the Corris line. This engine was used as a model for the 'Peter Sam' character in the 'Thomas the Tank Engine' series of children's books written by Reverend W Awdry. The books were later adapted into a succesful television series narrated by former Beatles' drummer Ringo Starr. Photograph by Patrick Ransome-Wallis.
