Dr Simon Mays, a Human Skeletal Biologist from English Heritage, laying out Bleadon Man for examination. Bleadon Man was one of two skeletons discovered when building began on a new housing estate in Bleadon, Somerset, in 1998. The investigations of the skeleton were filmed for the BBC TV series 'Meet the Ancestors'. Carbon-dating confirmed that the skeleton was of an Iron Age man who had lived around 100 BC. Scientists used facial reconstruction techniques to search for Bleadon man's descendants, and revealed the results in the village hall. The Iron Age man strongly resembled one of the men in the village, who turned out to be a direct descendant. Bleadon Man now belongs to North Somerset Museum Service.
