Description
Illustration taken from 'Particulars of Microscopes' by John Cuff, published in 1743. Cuff (1708-1772), was a London maker of optical instruments, whose microscopes were amongst the best available in the mid 18th century. The illustration of a reflecting microscope and three pairs of spectacles represents the sign outside Cuff's shop, which was situated in Fleet Street, London opposite Serjeant's Inn.
