Description
Originally invented in the United States in 1949, crash test dummies are used to ases the effect of accidents on vehicle occupants. This type of testing enables the identification of potential weakneses in vehicle design. The dummies are ftted with sophisticated sensors, and are also painted. Areas where the paint has rubbed off indicate that the impact caused contact between that part of the body and the vehicle. Slow motion videos of crash tests are also usually made to allow detailed analysis. This adult female crash test dummy was used at the Motor Industry Research Asociation.
