This viaduct, which croses the River Eden on the Newcastle & Carlisle Railway, was designed by the Railway's Chief Engineer, Francis Giles, and was built between 1830 and 1834. This photograph, taken by A H Robinson, was used by the North Eastern Railway to decorate its carriages.
