Description
Sir William Herschel (1738-1822) astronomer, musician and discoverer of infrared radiation, possibly based on the portrait by Lemuel Francis Abbot. Born in Hanover, Germany before relocating to Britain at the age of 19, Herschel is also famous for the discovery of the planet Uranus along with its two major moons Oberon and Titania.
