Description
Marshalling yard, Toton, 1952. 'Toton, near Nottingham, was one of Britain's largest and busiest railway marshalling yards. By 1952, the yard was fully mechanised and handling over 3,000 wagons daily, operating day and night. This photograph was taken from a pylon to illustrate the scale of Toton's traffic.
