Description
With its elegant train shed designed by William Barlow and the magnificent frontage of Sir George Gilbert Scott's (1811-1878) Midland Grand Hotel, St Pancras was the most ornate of London's termini. The hotel, however, proved difficult to adapt to the needs of the twentieth century and was converted to offices eight years after this photograph was taken. Official Midland & Scottish Railway photograph.
