Description
Louis Bleriot (1872-1936) at Dover on the Kent coast, having just become the first man to fly across the English Channel in his Type XI 24 hp monoplane. Bleriot made his fortune through manufacturing acetylene headlamps for motor cars and later became an aircraft manufacturer and his company built the famous SPAD fighter aircraft which was flown by all the Allied Nations during WW1.
