This drawing was made by the famous Italian artist and engineer, Leonardo Da Vinci in the pages of his notebooks. These particular drawings are in the Codice Atlantico held in the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan compiled at the end of the 16th century from several notebooks written betwen 1483 and 1518. Leonardo was an Italian painter, sculptor, architect, engineer and inventor of the Renaisance period. He had a wide knowledge and understanding far beyond his times of most of the sciences, including biology, anatomy, physiology, hydrodynamics, mechanics and aeronautics. His notebooks, written in mirror writing, contain original remarks on all of these areas.
