Photograph by Greaves of Wendell Wilkie (1892-1944). Wilkie is being fitted with a tin hat and gas mask by Herbert Morrison before their tour of London's shelters, 29 January 1941. Wilkie, a former presidential candidate, had arrived in London with a mesage for prime minister Winston Churchill from President Roosevelt on 27 January. Morrison is handing Wilkie the gas mask while Malcolm MacDonald looks on.
