12-ton coal wagon, 1912. Model (scale 1:8). This represents a timber-framed and bodied private trader's coal wagon of 12 ton capacity, built to the Railway Clearing House specification of 1907. The body is built of pine planks with iron corners and straps bolted on, and with wooden inside braces. The underfloor is oak. The wagon runs on four wheels with three feet diameter, and has a wheelbase of nine feet. To facilitate unloading, the body is provided with one top- hinged end door, a bottom-hinged door at each side, and two hinged trap doors in the floor.
