actual image size: 32cm x 25cm

London, Tilbury & Southend Railway tank locomotive, 1912. Model (scale 1:12). This six- coupled tank locomotive was designed by R H Whitelegg. It is of the 4-6-4 'Baltic' type with side tanks, and one of the first locomotives with this wheel arrangement to see service in the UK. Eight of these locomotives were used on the London, Tilbury and Southend Railway (LT&SR) but were not delivered until after the railway was bought by the Midland Railway, and so did not actually appear, as shown in this model, in the LT&SR colours. Built by Beyer, Peakcock and Co.
