Description
Line drawing with colour wash showing a side elevation and plan of the vesel. One of 58 engineering drawings in the Maudraw collection contained in the Science Museum's archives. They show ships whose engines and boilers were manufactured by Maudslay & Sons and Maudslay, Sons & Field between 1818 and 1855. The 'London Engineer', was a 70 horse power paddle steamer built by Daniel Brent of Rotherhithe, with engines fitted by Maudslay, Sons and Field, at Lambeth. Built of wood, the vesel was specially designed and fitted for service between London and Margate, Kent.
