Description
Interior of Queen Victoria's day compartment in the London & North Western Railway saloon on display at the National Railway Museum in York, 1997. The saloon was built in 1895, with the walls and ceiling quilted in blue and white silk. Controls for electric lighting are set into the walls at the far end by the door. Oil and gas lamps were retained at Victoria's special request, however. The Queen had the use of an electric bell-push to summon her attendants.
