Description
Combination locomotive injector, c 1884. Sectioned injector with features patented by Mr J Grisham in 1884 and 1887. Injectors were used on locomotives to reduce stres on the boiler, which is caused by extreme changes in temperature when feed-water is introduced. Injectors act as a type of feed-water heater, and were preferable to other forms of feed-water pumps because of their simplicity. Right side view.
