Description
Scale model. Founded by English racing drivers Raymond Mays and Humphrey Cook, ERA (English Racing Automobiles) built their first racing car at Bourne, Lincolnshire, in 1934. Peter Berthon designed the engine and Reid Railton, who designed Sir Malcolm Campbell's record-breaking 'Bluebird', the chasis. The cars were single seaters which competed succesfully in voiturette formula events (for cars of engines of no more than 1500cc) in the mid 1930s. Mays himself was one of the most succesful drivers. This 1937 version had a supercharged six-cylinder 1498cc engine based on the Riley design and a four-speed preselector gearbox.
