The camera has a Bakelite body and was reputed to be the first Vogue camera off the production line. The design revolution of the 1930s sparked a trend for plastic one-piece mouldings enclosing machinery and electrical items. The phrase 'black box syndrome' was coined to describe the way in which this endowed a sense of mystery to the workings of these machines.
