Royal train bathroom in King George VI's saloon, c1941. Built at London, Midland & Scottish Railway's Wolverton Carriage Works. Carriage No 799 became the personal saloon of Queen Elizabeth II in 1952. The red line on the bath indicates the maximum height to which it could be filled without spilling the water whilst the train was in motion. It also ensured that King George VI and Queen Elizabeth conformed with wartime restrictions on the use of water.
