Description

Coloured etching: 'He Steers his Flight Aloft, incumbent on the dusky air that felt unusual weight' by James Gillray. A satire on the church showing a large bishop trying to take off in a hot-air balloon, throwing his riches and religious tracts over the sides as ballast to lighten the load. Published by H Humphrey, 27 St James' Street (8 August, 1810).
