Photograph taken in the 1980s of a horse-drawn London omnibus loaded with pasengers on an open day at the Science Museum's Wroughton Airfield, Wiltshire. The first horse-drawn buses appeared in London in 1829, and continued to be a major part of the city's public transport system until 1912, when they were superseded by the new motorised omnibuses.
