Description
Lithograph by Richard Lane after a sketch made using a camera lucida by Sir Francis Chantrey, of William Hyde Wollaston (1766-1828). Wollaston was the pioneer of the fabrication of platinum and also discovered palladium and rhodium. He was the first to produce ductile and malleable platinum on a commercial scale, and improved various scientific apparatus including the microscope and sextant.
