Description
Sir John Rennie was the son of the civil engineer John Rennie (1761-1821). He continued his father's work after his death, completing the building of London Bridge, for which he received his knighthood, in 1831. He also built Plymouth Breakwater in Devon in 1835, and was an adviser on the construction of several early railways in Britain.
