Description
Coloured engraving by A Ashley after a drawing by Joseph Francis Burrell (active 1801-1854). In the 1830s, the construction of Britain's main railways began, and many commercial prints depicting the new lines, bridges and viaducts became available to the public. The Guildford Viaduct was constructed for the South Eastern Railway, which was completed in 1844. Engraved for the British Gazetteer, published by H G Collins, 22 Paternoster Row, London.
