Description
Colour lithograph, drawn and chromolithographed by Kell Brothers, showing a steam locomotive hauling a train of carriages through an underground tunnel. On 10 January 1863, the Metropolitan Railway operated the first underground service, which ran from Farringdon Steet north to King's Cros, and west to Paddington (Bishop's Road), utilising trains hauled by steam engines.
