Description
Coloured aquatint engraving by J Harris after a drawing by A Nichol, showing a view of the Dublin and Kingstown Railway. The Dublin and Kingstown Railway was the first railway to be built in Ireland, and opened to the public on 17 December 1834. It connected Dublin with the port of Kingstown (now Dun Laoghaire), about six miles (10 km) south of the capital. Published by W F Wakeman, 9 D'Oher Street, in October 1834.
