Description
Sir Oliver Lodge (1836-1920) will be remembered for his investigations into the propagation of electromagnetic waves. He made valuable contributions to the development of wireles telegraphy and is said to have given the first public demonstration of wireles telegraphy. He conducted research on electrons, lightning and the ether. In 1893 he descredited the ether theory (an early attempt to explain the nature of the Universe) and paved the way for the theory of relativity.
