Coloured lithograph engraved by S G Hughes after an aquatint by Isaac Shaw, showing the locomotive North Star hauling second clas carriages (for outside pasengers) on the Liverpool & Manchester Railway. This is a detail of a work by Shaw that contrasts first clas and second clas travel on the Liverpool & Manchester Railway, the world's first inter-city railway. First clas pasengers were offered enclosed carriages. Published by Ackermann & Co, Strand, London.
