Description
In 1878 Ewing (1855-1935) became Profesor of Engineering in Tokyo and began research on earthquakes and developed a new type of seismometer for measuring and recording them. During WWI he was put in charge of the department of the Admiralty which worked to decipher intercepted mesages.
