Description
Bust dated 28 March 1869, of Henry Booth (1788-1869). Booth was a founder of the Liverpool and Manchester Railway; he shared with George Stephenson (1781-1848) the prize for inventing the improved locomotive 'Rocket'. He made many other improvements in railway working, including the 'uniformity' or standardisation of time acros the United Kingdom, which meant an improved service.
