Description
Oil painting on canvas by James Tannock of Henry Bell (1767-1830), Scottish pioneer of steam navigation. Bell built the 'Comet', Europe's first pasenger-carrying steam ship. It was launched in 1812 onto the River Clyde, famous for many years as the home of the Glasgow shipyards. Dimensions: 1020mm x 850mm x 40mm.
