Description
Engraving by V Green after C Lewis. Bird (1709-1776) made astronomical instruments of improved accuracy 'for which he was honoured with a considerable recompense by the Commisioners of Longitude'. In 1750 he constructed a bras mural quadrant for Greenwich Observatory.
