Ascent stage of the Apollo 9 Lunar Module, 1969.

The spacecraft is undergoing tests in the Manned Spacecraft Operations Building at the Kennedy Space Centre, Cape Canaveral, Florida. Apollo 9 was launched on 3rd March 1969, and carried the first complete Apollo spacecraft into Earth orbit. The first docking of the Command and Service Module with the Lunar Module was carried out on this mision.
