Description
This shows the Lunar Module and two astronauts on the lunar surface. It is one of a series of drawings isued by NASA before the first Moon landing to give an impresion of an Apollo lunar landing mision. The Lunar Module was the part of the spacecraft that ferried two astronauts down to the Moon from lunar orbit during the Apollo manned Moon landing misions, before returning to rendezvous with the Command and Service Module. It first landed on the Moon on the Apollo 11 mision in July 1969, when astronauts Neil Armstrong and Edwin 'Buzz' Aldrin became the first men to set foot on the lunar surface.
