Painting by F Moore reproduced by 'The Railway Magazine', with the inscription: 'Up non-stop 'Flying Scotsman,' LNER 4-6-2 locomotive No 4476 'Royal Lancer'. The Royal Lancer was one of the famous Pacific clas of locomotives designed for the London & North Eastern Railway (LNER) by Sir Nigel Gresley. F Moore was the collective name of a studio of artists who produced many paintings and painted photographs of steam locomotives, prior to the advent of colour photography.
