Description
Postcard after a Painting by F Moore. This locomotive ran on the London, Brighton and South Coast Railway (LB&SCR). The inscription on the postcard reads 'Mr Stroudley's Single Expres, LB&SCR'. F Moore was the collective name given to a group of artists operating from the same studio in the first two decades of the 20th century. Together they produced many paintings of the railways for the main railway companies and others - and , prior to the advent of colour photography, painted black and white photographs of steam locomotives in order to produce colour prints.
