'Childbirth in Islam', collage, 1980.

Mixed media collage made by Derek and Patricia Freeborn for a display in the Wellcome Gallery at the Science Museum, London. It is based on an illustration found in a Persian manuscript in the British Library, and shows a woman in her bed chamber, shortly after giving birth, surrounded by attendants. A procesion of dancers, musicians and well-wishers bearing gifts is seen in the streets below, while a group of men are shown consulting books nearby.
