Description
Painted photograph by F Moore showing the front of the Works decorated for an illuminated display to commemorate Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee of 1897. A 2-2-2 locomotive number 1006 decorated with flags and the royal coat of arms is seen emerging from the central archway. Stratford became the Great Eastern Railway's main works and in its heyday covered an area of 100 acres, employing 5000 workers.
