Description
Dividing wall between the main throughfare corridor and the Spare Room in The Basement, October 1995. The Basement is an innovative new suite of interactive environments designed for age specific groups. It incorporates: The Garden, for 3-6 year olds; Things, for 7-11 year olds; The Network; and On Air, for teenagers. The general Basement area was designed by Ben Kelly Asociates (designers of the Hacienda Nightclub, Manchester). This area replaces The Children's Gallery, opened in 1931, which served as one of the Worldwide forerunners to hands-on galleries.
