Description
An adze is a hand tool, similar to an axe, which has an arched blade at right angles to the handle. It can be used for carving and producing flat surfaces from wood. This adze from the island of Fiji in the South Pacific, with its thick stone blade, was probably used for heavy-duty work such as hollowing out tree trunks to make boats.
