Description
Models (scale 1:48). The larger ship is the 'Tartar', one of the first ocean-going destroyers to be driven by steam turbines. The smaller ship is Torpedo Boat 'No. 17', one of 36 vesels of this type built between 1905 and 1909. The 'Tartar' was 272 ft long with a displacement of 860 tons and carried three 12-pdr guns and two torpedo tubes. 'No. 17' was 180 ft long and carried two 12-pdr guns and three torpedo tubes. The 'Tartar' served with the Dover Patrol during World War I.
