Description
General arrangement drawing of Belfast & County Down Railway '4-4-2' tank locomotive Order No 02417 Name of Draughtsman: J Crowther. In the second half of the 19th century, the rail network was expanding rapidly in the UK and around the world. The increasing demand for locomotive engines combined with innovative designs assured the success of Manchester company Beyer, Peacock & Co. Ltd. The company built almost 8,000 locomotives, which were shipped globally.
