Description
A family knitting circle', 7 February 1940. Knitting as part of the war effort. 'Mrs A Norman, of Wellington Road, Hampton in Middlesex, sits reading at night whilst her five daughters aged 16, 15, 14, 12 and 10 are busy knitting for soldiers. They are so keen on knitting for soldiers that they have formed their own family knitting circle, each girl spending her weekly allowance on buying wool. Immediately after finishing their homework at night out come the knitting kneedles'.
