Description
Lady Byron (1792-1813), who was the wife of the poet Lord Byron, and mother of Ada, Countess Lovelace (1815-1852), mathematician and co-worker of Charles Babbage. Lady Byron was an admired intellect and schooled Ada Lovelace in science and mathematics. Lovelace is now celebrated for identifying Babbage's calculating machines' potential to manipulate symbols rather than just numbers, foreshadowing modern computing a century in advance.
