Description
This primitive shadow clock is from Qus in Egypt. The base, inscribed with a scale of time divisions, is placed in an east-west direction. The pasage of time can be measured by the movement of the shadow created by the gnomen on the horizontal piece of wood. Clocks of this kind are still in use in some parts of Egypt.
